Salvage 24 responded to a house fire at 311 Linda Drive, Hempfield Twp., assisting Station 29. The salvage crew assisted on scene with salvage and overhaul. The salvage was on scene in 1 hour.

Chief 23 (Carbon) requested Engine 24 to assisted with a vehicle accident reported with entrapment, on Route 30 westbound at the Rt 136 exit. E24-1 assisted on scene with patient care, as there was no entrapment.

Just 40 minutes into the Engines standby for Youngwood's carnival, the Engine was dispatched in place of Rescue 26 for a Vehicle accident on Interstate 70, near the Turnpike ramp. The Engine and Chief's buggy arrived first on scene and Chief Milliron established 70 Command.

The first alarm was activated for 610 Sidney Street in the Borough for a porch fire. E24-1 arrived on scene within a minute and Assistant Chief Teacher established command. The engine crew investigated and found there was no fire, just a grill on the front porch for a Fourth of July BBQ.

Station 24 was activated for an odor of natural gas outside of a residence in the area of 423 Chestnut St. Engine 24-1, 24-2, and the Chief's buggy investigated and found natural gas coming from vent holes drilled in the street by the gas company.

For the third time in 24 hours, station 24 was activated for the automatic fire alarm at 612 Green St. 24 Engine investigated and found the same detector activated with out reason. The alarm was left out of service.

Station 24 and the first alarm was again activated for the 612 Green Street fire alarm at 0659 this morning for the second time in 24 hours. The alarm was coming from the same detector as yesterday with no fire.

Engines 24 1, 2 and the chief's buggy handled a fire alarm at 612 Green St. Chief Milliron had the command for the automatic fire alarm from a smoke detector on the first floor. Units found an apparent faulty detector.

Station 24 responded to Foster and Cribbs to assist the Borough police with a man hole cover off the hole causing a hazard in the roadway. The cover was replaced and normal traffic resumed.

Storms bringing heavy rains hit the Borough and all of Westmoreland County. The fire department staid busy using Engine 24-1, Engine 24-2, Light & Salvage 24, and the chief's buggy to answer 16 calls for assistance in the borough.

Salvage 24 responded to Iowa Street in the Caron section of Hempfield Twp. to assist station 23 with a house fire. Initial dispatch was for a house explosion. Capt Wright arrived 1st on scene and reported the front window of the house blown into front yard and no fire or smoke showing.

Engine 24 responded on the 1st alarm assisting Station 23 (Carbon) to tire's on fire on a flat bed truck trailer in the parking lot of JS Water Services on Woodward Dr Ext. Engine 24 provided its water to E23-2 and manpower to assist in extinguishing the small fire.

Station 24 received the alarm for a transformer explosion at the intersection of Chestut St. & Foster St. at 23:50 this morning. The Engine responded with 6 personnel. Units found the breaker had blown on the pole, and no fire.

Engine 24 responded with a crew of 4 to 620 Alexander St for a Street box working. Lt Hallam had the command and interior crew reported a bad cook. All outside units were canceled and 24 engine remained on scene for the report.

Station 24 received box 3213 for 1718 SW Rugh St. The Engine arrived and Lt. Hallam had the command. Units found a power outage tripped the fire alarm system. Engine handled and all outside units were canceled.

Station 24 received the box 2213 for CA Walters storage at 704 Stanton St at 15:43. Units investigated and found a fork lift hit a detector. Engine and Light & Salvage 24 operated with 7 personnel.
