Crews battle 2nd fire in the Borough in 5 days

At 3:53 Thursday afternoon, the alarm was activated for a reported house fire on the 500 block of Alexander Street.  Borough Police Sgt Brant quickly arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the windows of a house in the alley off of Foster St.  Truck 24 arrived just after the police, forced entry into the building and found a working fire in the kitchen.  The Truck crew stretched a line and was able to have quick knock down on the fire, containing to the Kitchen.  Crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour.

Assisting on scene: Engine and Rescue 32 (South Greensburg), Engine 79-6 and Air 79-2 (Greensburg), Engine 23 (Carbon), Tower Ladder 26 (Youngwood), Rescue 104 (Fort Allen), Rescue 34 (Crabtree), and Support 610 (Murrysville). 

The fire was ruled arson, and remains under investigation by the Borough Police and the State Police Fire Marshall.
